The Ultimate Crash Course to Twitter

Understanding and using Twitter fluently doesn’t happen overnight. You’re busy, and most likely, don’t have extra hours to fidget with the infamous blue bird (the Twitter icon for you social media newcomers). So Coalesce is stepping-up to help you master the world of tweets and retweets – in five short blogging sessions.

Over the next five weeks, check back with our Coalesce blog where we will provide a weekly crash course outlining the ins and outs of Twitter. And we promise not to overwhelm you with too much information – our blog lessons are designed to get you Twittering with confidence – one tweet at a time.

Step #1 – Sign Up.

Step #2 – Choose a username.

When selecting a username, think about who you are representing. If you are tweeting on behalf of your business, it might be a good idea to incorporate the company name into the username. However, some people may prefer to chat with a person over a company, so also consider using your own name (first and last).

Step #3 – Fill out your bio.

Who are you? Be honest – and remember to add your company’s URL.

Step #4 – Find People.

Type in the name of someone who you find interesting or would like to hear from. (Oprah, for example)

Other suggestions, include:
– Competitors
– Partners
– Experts in your field

Step #5 – Search Twitter to see if anyone is talking about YOU or your company. (Example: Starbucks)

Step #6   Start tweeting!

Tweet about anything and everything.
